Spring Workshops 2005!
MFA in the Book Arts Program

We are pleased to announce
Spring Workshops in the Book Arts at Alabama

Three workshops will be held in May of 2005. Anne Marie Kennedy will be teaching Hand Papermaking in the Book Arts Program Lost Arch Papermill from May 9 - noon on the 11th. Paul Moxon will be teaching a Vandercook Proof Press Maintenance workshop on May 12th, followed by Letterpress Printing 101 on May 13 - 14th.

This will be an opportunity to work with two terrific instructors in our studio-intensive environment. If you have never done it before these will be great introductions to hand papermaking and letterpress printing, but the workshops will also present opportunities for experienced book and paper artists. Consider the experience of springtime in beautiful Alabama working with these artists.

Please contact Steve Miller with any questions you may have, and to reserve a spot in these workshops. Space is limited.

Ann Marie Kennedy
Paper Palettes
May 9 - noon on May 11th
Lost Arch Papermill, UA

This workshop will explore the sheet formation process in hand papermaking with an emphasis on incorporating texture, image and color. Working with flax, abaca, and cotton rag base pulps students will investigate methods of altering and personalizing their sheets through layering, simple stenciling, and imbedding materials. The results will be a portfolio of papers, both finished pieces and sheets that can be used later in printing, drawing and book arts.

Ann Marie Kennedy has an MFA from the University of Iowa and is the 2004-5 recipient of the Visual Artist Fellowship Award from the NC Arts Council. She is a former Resident Artist at Penland School of Crafts, currently living in Carrboro, NC.
